We are pleased to announce that we have secured RIBA accreditation for our CPD presentation offering specification guidance for those designing washrooms in mental health facilities.
The presentation is titled: “Safeguarding Vulnerable Users in Mental Health Facility Bathrooms - Specification of Anti-Ligature Dispensers.” and meets core curriculum subjects:
By their nature, washrooms are private, unsupervised spaces. This helps to maintain the user’s dignity but it also presents the increase risk of acts of self-harm being undertaken. Consequently, designers must be especially conscious of ligature risks and do everything possible to reduce the risk and help to safeguard users. Part of that process can be achieved by specifying washroom dispensers and other fittings that are purposely designed to help prevent a ligature from being attached.
This seminar helps to identify the risks, details the design guidance available to architects and specifiers and explains how anti-ligature dispensers work.
The session lasts around 30 minutes and may be delivered as a seminar or as online learning. It can be booked via the RIBA CPD portal or directly with Dudley Industries. In the latter case, Dudley will register the individual’s attendance and notify RIBA to ensure that it awards the relevant CPD points.
